KZN Future Stars Football Tournament

Dawnview Primary School crowned the Champions of KZN Future Stars Football Tournament

Hundreds of the children from different Primary Schools under KwaDukuza Municipality gathered in Stanger High School Grounds on 21 October to participate in the 2016 KZN Future Stars Football Tournament. The event was organised by AmaZulu Community Trust in partnership with KZN Department of Sports and Recreation.

The KZN Future Stars is a collaborative initiative endorsed by KZN Department of Sport & Recreation which has been running social life skills and football training programmes from the beginning of the year.

The games were primarily focused on identifying and nurturing the talent of youngsters, to help them become the future stars of South African Football. The schools participated on the day were:

1. Tshelabantu Primary
2. Dawnview Primary
3. Shakaskraal
4. New G Primary
5. KwaDukuza Primary
6. Chibini Primary
7. Matobela Primary
8. Moyamuhle Primary
9. Dludla Primary
10. Ebendle Primary

Among the dignitaries who attended the event were the Ilembe mayor, Mr Siduduzo Gumede, AmaZulu FC General Manager, LungaSokhela, AmaZulu Community Trust representative, Mrs Sokhela, AmaZulu FC coach, Joey Antipas as well as the players from the AmaZulu Football Club.

Bheko Zulu from Dawnview Primary School was selected as the striker of the tournament and also a footballer of the tournament.
