Women’s Day

Women’s Day commemoration at Msinga

Radio Khwezi in partnership with Msinga local Municipality celebrated a very successful Women’s Day on 9 August.
This event was held at Bathembu Hall near Tugela Ferry. The main aim of the event was to celebrate and give recognition to the role of women, particularly care givers in our society.
A care giver is a person who cares for the sick voluntarily. Most of them at Msinga aremothers and widows who leave their struggling families behind to take care for other people who cannot help themselves.
There was also a competition organised by the municipality in which seven groups of care givers competed by singing songs related to what they do every day when treating sick people.
The meeting was honoured by dignitaries such the Msinga Mayor, Chiefs, Members of the Executive council, counsellors and others.
Radio Khwezi directed the whole programme and also brought along gifts and food parcels sponsored by local shops as tokens of appreciation to care givers for what they are doing in the area.
As always, entertainment made up a great part of the day. Amongst the Gospel artists that performed on the day were Mpumelelo Hlophe and Omama Benqaba yamakhatholika.
