A Mix of German and Zulu Traditions

The Deutsche Schule Hermannsburg (German School of Hermannsburg) had a Christmas celebration

on 17 June this year. The idea came from the German teaching department of the school to celebrate Christmas in winter time, as done in Germany. As a result many parents, community members and visitors enjoyed a Christmas market with German Christmas music, traditions and food combined with some Zulu traditions like a gumboot-dance. Recordings and interviews were broadcast on 11 July just after the end of the winter holidays.
