SPEAKER BOYCE OFFICIALLY OPENED THE YEAR’S ANNUAL WORKERS PARLIAMENT IN GREYTOWN

Hon. Nontembeko Boyce, the Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, officially opened the 2026 Workers Parliament at the Greytown Community Center, located in the uMzinyathi District Municipality.

The theme of this year's Parliament is "Tackling unemployment and the cost of living through skills development and advancement of workers' rights."

Delegates from labor federations, legislators, and members of the provincial executive attended today’s session, led by Premier Thami Ntuli and accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour.

Hon. Boyce, who delivered the keynote speech today, described the Workers Parliament as a vital constitutional forum for discussing issues that affect the working class.

According to Boyce, the annual Workers Parliament is a gathering that yields tangible and quantifiable results, distinguishing it from a mere talk show. Additionally, Honourable Ntuli provided an update on the resolutions that were passed during the most recent Workers Parliament.

Hon. Jomo Sibiya, speaking on Radio Khwezi during current affairs, noted that the government has initiated the Labour Activation Programme, also known as LAB. This program is designed to promote skills development and training, helping recent graduates—particularly those currently studying—to secure employment after completing their studies.
