Owen Sithole College of Agriculture 2025 graduations

Radio Khwezi was part of the Owen Sithole College of Agriculture 2025 graduations. The Imini Yethu show was broadcast live at the Imbizo Hall in Empangeni.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC, Thembeni KaMadlopha-Mthethwa, conferred qualifications on students who have completed their degrees, diplomas, and various leadership programs.

The MEC mentioned that fifty-six students were conferred with diplomas in a formal graduation ceremony style. The department continues to provide valuable financial assistance to students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. Agricultural diplomas are offered through Inkosi Owen Sithole College of Agriculture and Cedara College of Agriculture, while also providing financial support to needy students through bursaries from AgriSeta, having allocated R500,000 for students. The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Land Reform has also contributed R700,000, while the Sugar Industry Trust Fund for Education sponsors 10 students annually.

In efforts to retain and attract talent to the agricultural sector, the department has sought to organise agricultural career expos to draw in prospective students.

Sizakele Makhanya obtained a diploma in agriculture crop production, and seven other awards, namely the Best Student award. Sizakele said this is a good career, and she wishes to grow and become a doctor.
