KwaZulu-Natal Premier Led GBVF March in Dundee, uMzinyathi District

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, today led the Silwa neChilo March against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) in the central business district of Dundee, which falls under the Ndumeni Local Municipality within the uMzinyathi District Municipality.

Silwa neChilo is a provincial campaign that offers a strategic platform to promote positive masculinity. This initiative serves as a key pillar for primary prevention and the transformation of social norms. The campaign also provides a platform for men to engage actively in tackling the root causes of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) throughout KwaZulu-Natal. This includes addressing issues such as toxic masculinity, insufficient education on gender equality, and a lack of adequate support systems for victims.

Premier Ntuli began the day by leading the Engangeni Ngesango Iyafohla campaign, which focuses on addressing illegal immigration and enhancing law enforcement efforts.

The premier then took part in a roundtable discussion aimed at addressing harmful cultural practices and patriarchal norms that perpetuate gender-based violence and femicide.
